By making a social contribution to society through football – this is what the Sepp-Herberger Foundation, which was established by the German Football Association (DFB), serves. The focus of the oldest foundation in German football sport, which the DFB was still established in 1977 together with the former national coach Sepp Herberger, is on promoting football in schools and clubs, in disabled sports and as an aid for rehabilitation, in prisons. In addition, the organisation supports people in football who are in need through no fault of their own.
